James knows first hand what it takes to be a successful musical theatre performer and believes he “couldn’t have had a better foundation, being taught and encouraged by the Donnell Family” who founded ACTA. James also studied several dance styles as a young student at L’Academie de Danse including American Jazz, RAD Ballet, Tap and HipHop achieving Advanced levels in all styles. He would later go on to perform with several well known dance companies in both NZ and London and as a professional dancer in the London 2012 Olympics Opening ceremony.
James achieved a Diploma in Musical Theatre in 2006 and was added to the books of top entertainment agency Karen Kay Management. The many skills James has and endeavours to acquire and develop, continues to add to his varied and successful career in the performing arts industry.
James performed in the British premiere of musical Sweet Smell of Success and most recently, was cast as Chase Randell (Black Power Ranger) the only ever Kiwi Power Ranger in the well known TV Series Power Rangers Dino Charge. Other TV credits include: UK TV Series Inspector Lewis, US TV Series Legend of the Seeker, and Kaitangata Twitch.
James has taught at many dance and performing arts schools internationally and has choreographed for many shows in between his own performing work. He feels “ACTA is a place where students can strive to achieve their best, and I’m very excited to be back working with the ACTA family once again”.
